Prince's Guitar A Phallic Symbol?

According to NME.com, some bloggers and critics are complaining that Prince used his guitar as a phallic symbol during his Super Bowl half-time performance.

Quoted from NME:
Now, several people are alleging that the shadow cast by Prince and his guitar, which was projected onto a beige sheet during his performance of 'Purple Rain', had distinct phallic connotations.

It was "a rude-looking shadow show" that was "embarrassingly rude, crude and unfortunately placed," said Daily News television critic David Bianculli.

Ever since Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction," the FCC and tons of critics scrutinize every little thing about the Super Bowl half-time performance. This is taking it way too far. The guitar is inherently a phallic symbol. It has a long neck...you move you're hand up and down the neck...the guitar usually rests on the hip or pelvic region. Has it gotten to the point that we're not going to be able to have guitar solos during the half-time show?
