Betcha didn't know this was a cover: Blinded By the Light

A young song writer named Bruce Springsteen sat on the his bed with a rhyming dictionary and wrote a song. This song was later to appear on his Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. This album was originally not well taken by the public. As folk lore recall, the lead singer to Manfred Mann (Chris Thompson) dreamed that he was Bruce Springsteen and had recorded Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. After having this dream he decided to pick a song off this album and record it. "Blinded by the Light" was the song that he choose. To this day "Blinded By the Light" is Bruce Springsteen's only #1 hit. This is mostly due to highly mis-heard lyric in the chorus. The chorus in Bruce's version goes "...like a deuce another runner in the night", compared to Manfred Mann's version which is commonly heard as "...like a douche another runner in the night". Now this common mis-heard lyric is believed to have rocketed this song to number one.
